Facts
What is Guardian Low E1.4D?
Guardian Low E glass is a product which combines the superb benefits of off-line magnetron soft coated low-e glass; neutrality, uniformity, clarity and consistency with the benefits of pyrolitic low-e glass; durability, easy processing and no requirement for edge deletion with approved sealants.
It is applied to one surface of the glass during manufacture. The glass can be laminated or toughened to suit your requirements. Low-E glass can be incorporated into double glazed units for maximum thermal insulation. Low-E glass allows short wave energy, like sunlight, through but reflects long wave energy, such as heat from fires and radiators back into your home, keeping rooms warmer.
What is Toughened Glass?
Toughened glass is produced by a sophisticated method of heating and cooling the glass whereby high compressive stresses are set up at the surfaces with balancing tensile stresses at the centre. The high compressive surface stresses give Toughened glass its increased strength (up to five times stronger than ordinary glass). It can, however, break under extreme loads and stress, which bends the glass or by severe impact with a sharp object.
When toughened glassis broken it fragments into small particles which are less likely to cut or lacerate the skin.
What is Laminated Glass?
Laminated glass is produced by combining two sheets of float glass with one or more plastic interlayers. The interlayer is made up of polyvinylbutyral (PVB) interlayer, which is applied with heat and pressure in factory controlled conditions. Laminated glass can be used in various applications, and suitable for security and noise level control. "Did you know that laminated glass is an excellent barrier again UV light rays that penetrate windows and doors"!
What is U-Value?
U-Value expresses the rate of heat loss, through any type of material, the lower the U-Value the greater the thermal insulation performance.
What is Desiccant?
Desiccant is moisture absorbing beads that fill the spacer bar within the construction of the double glazed unit. The desiccant will absorb any trapped organic moisture or vapour that may cause condensation at a later date.
What is Self-Cleaning Glass?
Self-Cleaning glass is manufactured by depositing a transparent layer of photocatalytic and hydrophilic mineral material onto clear glass. The coating, which is integrated into the glass itself, ensures a high level of durabilty. The mechanical, thermal and accoustic properites are identical to normal glass.
We at Kash n Karry are proud to be able to supply SGG BioCleanR and Pilkington's ActivTM Self-Cleaning glasses.
Self-Cleaning glass harnesses the power of both UV light from the sun and rain to efficiently combat dirt and grime that accumulates on the outside of the window (dried water marks, organic atomospheric pollutants, dust, sea spray and insect residues).
It has been designed for external use, either in the home or commercial buildings, both new build and refurbishment projects including:
Windows and patio doors
Conservatories, balconies and overhead glazing
Glazed facades, exterior shopfronts and display windows, overhead and atria glazing, street furniture
Hard to reach areas.
